This park was established on the ruins of the Arab village of Jerissa, which was demolished in the 1948 war, and was one of the five villages that fell within the boundaries of the Tel Aviv municipality. Many flour mills that were used by the ancients were discovered at this site by using the waters of the Yarkon River to move the mills. And near the mills there are the remains of an old bridge from the Roman era. These mills were used by the locals who were grinding nearly half a ton of flour every hour for hundreds of years until the village was taken over in 1936. The village is called in Arabic as “Jarisa,” meaning fine flour, which means that the villagers were attached to the land and made their living. of these wheat mills.
