The Shrine of Our Lady of Bonaria also known as the Shrine of Our Lady of the Great Winds is a title associated with the Virgin Mary as star of the sea and patroness of sailboats in Sardinia, where the Virgin is depicted holding the Christ Child and standing beside a golden-coloured sailboat and holding a candle in her right hand as patroness of the island. The shrine is considered the Roman Catholic shrine to the Blessed Virgin Mary of Cagliari. The shrine is surrounded by a group of other buildings that make up the shrine, including the Church of Mrs. Bonaria, the Archaeological Sanctuary of Mrs. Bonaria, a basilica, and a Catholic monastery.
