Description of the place
It is a forest of 4,421 hectares on the southeastern edge of Brussels. The forest is located in the Flemish municipalities of Sint-Genesius-Rode, Hoilart, Oversee and Tervuren, in the Brussels-Capital Region municipalities of Oakley, Watermael, Boitsfort, Odergem and Willoy-Saint-Pierre and in the Walloon towns of La Hulpe and Waterloo. Thus, it spans the three Belgian regions. As of 2017, the Sonian Forest is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
