Sri Muktheeswarar Temple

Sri Mukthiswarar Temple is located in Athur village, 5 km from the heart of Madurai, on the banks of River Palar. It is one of the distinctive temples of that region, which has gained wide popularity because it contains a separate outer shrine for Prakaram. The temple has a design similar to the rest of the temples of India, with decorations, stone carvings, vibrant colors, and spacious squares in which prayers, festivals, and religious ceremonies are held.
