St. John's Bridge
Unlike other bridges built so far in Portugal, St. John's Bridge is not an arch bridge, but rather a straight bridge with vertical columns and three spans; Two side bridges with a length of 125 meters and a central bridge with a length of 250 meters. The bridge consists of one continuous piece built of reinforced concrete. It has a strong infrastructure to carry the railways that link Vila Nova de Gaia to Porto over the Douro River.
