St Pierre Cathedral
Saint Pierre Cathedral dates back to 1150 AD, and the Romanesque church located at the highest point in the old city of Geneva is distinguished by its magnificent Gothic-inspired building. This church had a major role in the Protestant Reformation period in which Geneva played an important role, as the name was changed to the Chapel de Saint-Pierre and it became a Protestant church. John Calvin, one of the founders of the Protestant movement, preached here from 1536 to 1564, and his followers removed the altars and paintings, leaving only the carvings and stained glass from the original building.
