The Stavanger Maritime Museum is located on the quayside, and it is one of the most famous museums in the city because it tells the city’s maritime history, which is a long and ancient history, as the fish trade was one of the most important foundations of trade and the first breadwinner for Norway in the centuries between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries. The museum includes miniature models of ships used by the ancients, thousands of fishing tools, a tool fishermen used to communicate at sea called the telegraph, and many others.
