Surat Thani City Pillar Shrine

One of the most prominent landmarks in the city is the modern mausoleum of Surat Thani, which is stunningly designed and covers a large open green space along the main road, located on the northwest edge of the city near many government buildings. This area was once government offices, but it was destroyed in 1990 by communist rebels. Inside the shrine today, there are a number of artifacts such as a Buddha image, various inscriptions, and ceremonial gongs.
