Temple of the Society of Jesus Oratory of San Felipe Neri
The Church and Temple of the Society of Jesus the Preacher was built by the Jesuits in Guanajuato, Mexico, and is one of the largest Jesuit churches built in what was then New Spain. Its ornate façade has three doors and houses an important artistic heritage including sacred painting and sculpture. It is noteworthy that the Jesuits used the temple for only two years, as they were expelled in 1767 AD by decree of Carlos III, so the temple remained deserted between 1767 AD and 1794 AD, then the church moved to the San Felipe Neri Chapel complex, and it reopened in 1794 AD.
