Name of the place
The Ghetto Heroes Square
The Ghetto Heroes Square
It is one of the oldest tourist attractions in the city with an area of 13,000 square meters, and it is made up of gray rocky stones. On the paving is an array of urban furniture, mostly chairs arranged on a virtual grid of about five by five metres, all oriented in the same direction. Each chair is anchored to the floor by a small, slightly raised metal platform. It is the center where the Nazi occupiers of Krakow forced the Jewish community further south from Kazimierz, when the Kraków ghetto was liquidated in 1943 as the clothes and furniture belonging to its residents were left strewn across the square.
