The Lighthouse of Port Said
The Old Port Said Lighthouse or the Port Said Lighthouse is one of the most important tourist and archaeological attractions in the city of Port Said in Egypt, and a unique example showing the development of nineteenth century architecture. The history of this lighthouse dates back to the year 1859, and the lighthouse was built at the time from wood near the coast and used to light for a distance of 10 miles in the open sea, then it was moved in the year 1869 to its current location and was restored and added concrete to it and provided it with a lantern that lights up for a distance of 20 miles. This building was the first building constructed of reinforced concrete in the world. It was built by the French during the reign of Khedive Ismail. Its construction lasted two years. It was designed in the form of an octagon, and its height is 56 meters. Do not miss the opportunity to visit it.
