The Lion sculpture

The famous lion statue is located on the northern side of the old town market in the heart of the German city of Schwerin, and it is a statue that expresses the city’s founder, Heinrich the Lion. It was built in 1995 on the occasion of the 800th anniversary of Heinrich’s death by sculptor Peter Lenk. The statue is distinguished by the paintings carved on its stone base, which display some scenes from Henry's life during his crusade. The statue is located in a very lively area in the market square, where it is surrounded by many service facilities such as shops, restaurants, and others.
