The National Museum

The National Museum - Sultanate of Oman, which was established in 2013, is the main cultural institution in the Sultanate, which displays the nation’s heritage from the oldest human settlement in the Oman Peninsula about two million years ago to the present day, and the total area of the building is 13,700 square meters (147,000 square feet) , including 4,000 square meters (43,000 square feet) dedicated to 14 permanent exhibitions, including the Land and People Gallery, the Maritime History Gallery, the Arms and Shield Exhibition, the Falaj Gallery, the Currency Gallery, the Prehistoric and Ancient History Exhibitions, and Masterpieces of Islam, Oman and the World Exhibition, the Intangible Heritage Exhibition and the Renaissance Exhibition. It constitutes an important cultural source for the Sultanate of Oman.
