The Rocks

It is a neighborhood located between the Sydney Harbor Bridge and the northern edge of the city's central business district. The shores of this neighborhood were called rocky shores, and it was the first permanent European settlement in Australia. By the late nineteenth century AD, the region had turned into a slum and riot-filled neighborhood, but in the 1970s the city began a huge restoration project to save the historic homes and warehouses in this province. Today, it has been restored as a popular tourist destination filled with art galleries, national museums, upscale boutiques, trendy local and international restaurants, souvenir shops, and more.
