The Two Bridges of La Caille
The two bridges of La Caye, spanning the gorge of the River Ause on the road between Geneva and Annecy, are great and popular local attractions. The first bridge known as the "Charles Albert Bridge" was commissioned by Charles Albert; The King of Sardinia, in medieval revival style, and features two white towers at each end supported by dozens of cables. Parallel to it but in a very different style, the other known as the "Caco Bridge" or "New Bridge" was built in 1925 to replace the disused Charles Albert Bridge. Now, at the time of its opening, it was one of the longest concrete bridges in Europe.
