Tobacco Pier

The Tobacco Wharf is one of the most important political sites in the city of Samsun, as it was here that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk ascended, announcing the start of the Turkish War of Independence. Today, the sidewalk is decorated with wax sculptures of Atatürk and his companions, and some important statues and documents have been placed for public view. The pier is a popular destination for tourists and visitors.
