Villa Farnesina

Old Renaissance Villa (Via della Lungara) This new design of a suburban villa can be distinguished by its façade resembling typical Renaissance palaces on the street and were ornate reproductions of defensive castles, rectangular blocks with rusticated floors and a courtyard. Among the most famous exhibits are Raphael's frescoes on the ground floor, as well as the painting of the loggia, which depicts classical and secular mythology. In one of his few purely secular paintings, a semi-nude nymph appears on a chariot in the shape of a shell.
