Bora Bora was a supply base for the United States from early 1942 to mid-1946 in the aftermath of the bombing of Pearl Harbor in Hawaii in December 1941, as many as 6,000 soldiers were stationed on the island leaving a distinguished historical legacy - seven giant guns, eight of which were installed In total, with seven cannons remaining around the strategic coastal areas of Bora Bora, the actual guns are about eight centimeters long and more than six meters wide at their revolving base. They were never used, and are now rusty. Visitors climb them and take pictures on top of them.
