The library of the Abbey of St. Gall is a monastic library from the Middle Ages. It is an ancient library with a long history. It was founded in the year 930 and remained one of the most important cultural centers in Europe until 1805. The library is distinguished by its majestic hall, which was designed in the Rococo style by the architect Peter Thumb (Peter Thumb) in the year 1758, and visitors will find a Latin inscription on the door of the hall, which translates in Arabic to "spirit pharmacy", meaning that the books in the place will revive the spirit of the visitors. There are currently approximately 160,000 volumes in the library, in addition to more than 3,000 historical books from the Middle Ages.
