Achilleion

The striking beauty of the Achilleion Palace building hides a very sad story, as Elizabeth, the Empress of Austria, wanted to retire from the world after her husband betrayed her and the assassination of her only son, so she came to the seaside, lived in this luxurious palace, and spent her time in its gardens. The palace is also known as an important center for European diplomacy, but it has now turned into a museum that houses some of the Empress's belongings, and a collection of paintings, statues, and artistic sculptures.
