Description of the place
The Alaverdi Monastery is located in the Kakheti region near the village of the same name. It is one of the largest church buildings in Georgia, with a height of more than 50 meters, including the dome. In the Middle Ages, it was one of the most prominent temples in Georgia. Today, it includes a group of historical buildings that include St. George's Cathedral, a defensive wall, a chapel, Bekar Khan's palace, a wine cellar and a bath.
