Ancient Blast Furnace and Massa Museum
The Masa Museum presents the ancient history of ironworks in the city of Miskolc and its surroundings and the activity of the Fazola family, which played an important role in the life of ironworks. It also displays a rich collection of antiquities, historical and engineering documents, and elements of intellectual heritage. Memories of the Hungarian and Slovak iron culture can be identified in the museum. Right next to the museum is the old blast furnace, which is one of the most important industrial landmarks in Hungary. The surrounding area is popular for long walks, and the beat of the great hammer can often be heard around the electrically powered water wheel, which is only a few steps away from the furnace. Visitors can carry and try various tools and relive the daily life of blacksmiths.
