Aqueduct of Valens
The barrage is a structure dedicated to the continuous supply of water to the city, and it consists of underground water channels, water pipes, tunnels and bridges. The Valence Barrage, also known as the Hadrian Barrage, is the largest of its kind in Turkey, with a length of about 920 meters and a height of 30 meters. It forms part of the Valens aqueduct system that transports water from Thrace to Constantinople (Byzantine Istanbul), and today, under the arches of these aqueducts, Ataturk Street, which was built in the 1950s, passes through.
