The Barbican Gate located in the diocese of the city is the best preserved structure of the ancient wall of Coimbra. It corresponds to the main gate of the city in terms of engineering design inspired by the Islamic style. In the Islamic era, it was the main entrance to the city of Coimbra. The national coat of arms and the representative symbol of the city's founding.
