Buyuk Han

landmark located in North Nicosia, it was built in 1572, shortly after the conquest of the island by the Ottomans, and thus it is considered the oldest Turkish building on the island. At that time, it mainly served as a hostel for young travelers, which protected them from thieves because of its thick walls. It has two floors, on the ground floor there was a place for the animals, and on the top were the sleeping quarters for the travelers. In the middle of it is a large yard that served as a commercial center for many commodities that were transported at that time.
