Castle of Eger
Eger Castle is a building of great historical importance. It dates back to the thirteenth century. It houses the Estefan Dobo Castle Museum and many monuments, including a thirteenth-century cathedral and a Gothic episcopal palace from the fifteenth century. It is considered one of the most famous symbols of national constancy. It was defended by a handful of Hungarian warriors against a huge Turkish army in 1552. It was rebuilt several times, first in the Romanesque style, later in the Gothic style, and then the current stone castle was built after the Mongol-Tartaryan invasion in the 13th century, and rebuilt several times until the eighteenth century.
