Cendere Bridge
This well-preserved Roman bridge crosses the Cinderi (Ancient Chabinas River) at a point where the river emerges from an impressive gorge in the wide Qahta Valley. It was built between 198 and 200 AD by a Roman general stationed in Samsat (ancient Samosata) and dedicated to Septimius Severus, his wife Julia Domna, and their sons Caracalla and Geta. According to inscriptions, the building was funded by four of the cities of Commagene.
