Description of the place
Located on the western shore of Lake Furnas on the island of São Miguel, the Church of Our Lady of Victories, stunningly reflected in the water, is an impressive neo-Gothic building unique in the entire Azores archipelago. It was built in the late 19th century by José do Canto ( José do Canto), and has 18 windows, most of which are filled with lustrous stained glass bearing biblical images.
