Description of the place
The Church of Our Lady of Candelaria is a Catholic church that was built in 1615 AD at the initiative of the captain and ruler of the island. It is famous for having a separate bell tower with an elegant design in the modern Baroque style. The bell tower is located on a hill near the church on Mount Guabira. The church is named after Candelaria, the patron saint of the municipality. the principal festivals of the parish on 15 August in her honour.
