Description of the place
The Church of Our Lady of Consolation and Santos Passos has its origins in a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary that was built in the historic center of the city in March 1576. In October 1785, the new church was completed. It is an outstanding example of Baroque architecture in Guimarães, provided with two towers, a staircase and a balustrade, and is Today it is one of the main churches in the city of Guimarães, and attracts many visitors interested in history and Baroque architecture.
