Church on the Rock (Kosciol na Skalce)

Located in the south of the Old Town and overlooking the Vistula River, the church is one of Kraków's leading religious complexes, it has been a pilgrimage church since Bishop Stanisław of Krakow was executed there in 107. He later became the patron saint of both Kraków and Poland, revered by many even present day. A piece of the rock on which his head was cut is displayed on an altar in the main church. The tomb is also open to the public.
