City Gates

The city gates are considered one of the most famous monuments in the city of Ponta Delgada on the island of São Miguel. They were originally built in the eighteenth century next to the old pier, and then moved to Gonzalo Velho Cabral Square during the construction of Prince Henry coastal street. These gates consist of three arches that show In the middle is the royal coat of arms and the city coat of arms, which are one of the main symbols of the city.
