Da Ponte Fountain
In the heart of the picturesque town of Koper lies this distinctive historic fountain which has an exceptional Italo-European style with backwaters and narrow side streets to a medieval courtyard with a mixture of Gothic and Renaissance architecture. The current fountain dates back to 1666 AD, replacing the older fountain in the same location. It is distinguished by its upper shape in the form of a bridge, and is surmounted by an octagonal basin surrounded by fifteen columns, each of which bears the arms of the local noble families who contributed funds to build the fountain.
