Fontana di Nettuno
The Neptune Fountain is the second fountain built by the Italian sculptor and architect Giovanni Angelo Montorsoli in Messina after the famous Orion Fountain, commissioned by the city council. It is a fountain made of marble depicting Neptune (the god of the sea) taming the raging sea, and two monsters stand beside him. A bronze statue of Karl Bourbon was added to the fountain in 1848 AD, two centuries after it was first established. It is worth noting that there are many statues of the sea god distributed. In various cities of Italy, this fountain in Messina is considered one of the three most important huge fountains dedicated to Neptune in the country.
