Description of the place
Fort Ricasoli is located in the Kalkara region in the city of Valletta. Its construction was completed in 1670 by order of Saint John. The fort occupies a rocky plateau known as "Gallows", which is located on the northern shore of Rinella Bay. The fort is very famous in the region. Since it is the largest in Valletta and also in the whole of Europe, it has even been included in the provisional list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1998.
