The National War Museum houses an impressive collection of prehistoric items. These items, which show Malta's military history, are presented in chronological order. The show starts from the early stages in the Bronze Age up to the independence of Malta. Going through the stage of the Second Punic War, after which Malta changed and became part of the great Roman Empire. Until the period when the British took over Malta and turned it into one of their many colonies in World War I. The museum also displays Malta's military role in history, especially its historical role in World War II, as well as displays dedicated to Malta's independence and its acquisition of freedom.
