Frigate Dom Fernando II e Glória
The historic Frigate Dom Fernando y Gloria was the last warship sailing for Portugal. Featuring three masts and 50 cannons, the ship remained in active service until 1878, when it made its last cruise, when it had covered more than one hundred thousand miles, the equivalent of five voyages around the world. After a long period of service, it was destroyed by fire in 1963 with the burnt wooden hull lying on the beach in the mud flats of the Tagus River for 29 years. In 1990, the Portuguese Navy decided to return it to its original appearance before its destruction, and it was preserved as a museum visited by many tourists from all over the world.
