Daegu Jisan Catholic Church was built by a priest named Father Robert who came to Daegu to perform missionary work (Father Robert) in the years 1853-1922. The first church building was constructed of wood using a Korean-style design in 1899, but was destroyed by fire a few months after the start of construction, as a result of which Father Robert devised a new design for the building and imported stained glass and galvanized iron from France and Hong Kong, where it was difficult to find These kinds of building materials in Korea. The second building is still standing today.
