Hercules Monument
Rising 530 meters above Kassel, the Hercules Monument crowns the Park Tower, offering an incomparable view of the city and its surroundings. The monument consists of a copper statue of Hercules, 8.30 m long, designed by the engineer Landgrave Carl, and created at the end of the seventeenth century, and represents the triumph of art over nature and the absolute power of human ingenuity. Hercules is the legendary example of strength, courage and resourcefulness, and its complete design, consisting of the Hercules monument, the caves below it and the water features around it, is an excellent example of Baroque architecture.
