Lions' Gate
The Lions Gate is located near the Mount of Olives and the Via Dolorosa in the occupied city of Jerusalem. This is one of the seven gates that were built in the old city wall, and it is the only one open towards the east. The door was built during the sixteenth century by the Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, and on both sides of the door there are decorations in the form of lions, and the legend says that the decorations of lions were integrated into the door, after Sultan Suleiman saw lions trying to devour him in his sleep because of the status of the city of Jerusalem, which was not protected walls at that time.
