Mor Behnam Kirklar Church

Built in the name of Mor Behnam and his sister Saru, now known as Kirklare Church, this church takes its name from early Christian mythology and is a building dating back to the mid-sixth century. It is characterized by contemporary architectural design, with a ceiling supported by arches resting on 12 huge columns towards the east. and the west, built of smooth cut stones. The church has historical importance acquired through the ages. In this church, the patriarchs and metropolitans resided in the courtyard in rooms whose ceilings were built of cut stone. In the year 1850 AD, a new patriarchal center was built in place of these rooms.
