The Martins Sarmiento Museum belongs to a cultural institution founded in 1881. It is an archaeological museum with a diverse and valuable heritage. It is considered the main reference for pre-Roman cultures in Portugal and one of the most important museums for these cultures in Europe. It is located in the Gothic cloister dating back to the fourteenth century of the Church of São Paulo. Domingos, and includes an impressive collection of prehistoric and primitive antiquities, engravings and coins, as well as an impressive collection of contemporary art.
