The Napoleon Monument or the Napoleon Stone is a memorial stone located in the Windknollen area. It was originally a border stone between Jena and the nearby Kospeda area, and today it represents a memorial to the battle of Jena and Auerstedt that took place northwest of the city in 1806 AD when Napoleon occupied the city and besieged it and carved the letter " N" in the stone as evidence of his victory, and the stone was later replaced several times with the letter "N" re-engraved on it and became a memorial and an important tourist destination in the city.
