Orvieto Cathedral
Orvieto Cathedral is a large 14th-century Roman Catholic church dedicated to the Assumption of Our Lady. Since 1986 the cathedral has been the episcopal seat of the former diocese of Todi. The building was commissioned by Pope Urban IV to commemorate and provide a suitable home for The Corporal of Bolsena, a relic of the miracle that is said to have occurred in 1263 in the nearby town of Bolsena, the cathedral's façade features designs inspired by the period extending from the fourteenth to the twentieth centuries.
