Our Lady of Remedies Sanctuary

The Church of Our Lady of Remedies was built on top of Mount St. Stephen in Lamego between the 18th and 20th centuries, and is visited by pilgrims from all over the country, especially on September 8; On the day of the birth of the Virgin Mary, the huge 686-step Baroque staircase that gives access to the church is divided into several levels interspersed with distinctive sculptural elements, such as statues of kings, eight fountains, etc. The church is characterized by interior designs in the stunning Rocaille style.
