Piazza del Plebiscito also known as "Piazza del Papa" is one of the four main squares of Ancona, and was the central square of the city until the expansion of the city after the Italian unification. It is a wide square overlooking a group of the most prominent monuments in the city of Ancona, such as the Government Palace and its tower, and the Church of San Domenico. It also houses a group of statues and memorials, including the statue of Clement XII, the statue of the Pope, and the new Trajan Tower. The square also includes a group of shops, souvenir and gift shops, as well as many local restaurants and cafes.
