Arco dei Becci

One of the famous historic San Gimignano gates, being located in the historic center of the city and connecting the main street of San Giovanni with Piazza della Cestrina. It is a very old gate, dating back to the tenth century AD. The gate takes the form of an open circular arch made of stone, topped by a covered balcony supported by a series of small hanging arches. The gate is surrounded by a group of ancient buildings, including historical towers and churches. There are many shops, restaurants and other service and entertainment facilities in the Gate Square.
