Prague Meridian
The Prague Meridian, or so-called meridian, marked by the shadow of the Sage Column on the pavement of Prague's Old Town Square at right noon, was drawn to mark the time of noon in the city. The meridian (longitude 14), which was laid in the paving of the Old Town Square near the monument to Jan Hus, forms part of the Marian column, and the longitude was defined by the column of the Virgin Mary, which was destroyed in 1918 AD. Today, this line is a distinguished geographical tourist landmark for the city, and it has earned it special fame.
