Rawson Square is a beautiful landmark in the heart of Nassau Island, named after Sir Rawson W. Rawson who was Governor of the Bahamas in the late 1860s, and in the middle of the Square is a bronze statue of Sir Milo Butler, the first Governor General of the independent Bahamas. The square is considered the gateway to the city for cruise passengers, as it is located near the main port of the island.
