The Red Fort is a historic fort in the center of the Indian capital, New Delhi. It was the main residence of the Mughal emperors. This giant piece of architecture derives its name from its red sandstone walls. Today, this fort is home to a number of museums that contain a variety of precious artifacts on display, and every year, the Indian Prime Minister raises the national flag atop the fort to celebrate Independence Day.
